Jeannie Phan is an illustrator based in Toronto, Canada. Her work is full of diverse characters, contrasting textures, and places both real and imagined. Woke is a portrayal of a world at that strange and often uncomfortable state of just waking up after being in the dark far too long. Commissioned as part of Frontier Magazine Issue 03 / Darkness, Jeannie's map gazes back at the viewer, partly to confront but also to start a dialogue and shed light on places often left out of the conversation and kept in darkness.
