The muskox is a nobel animal. Closely related to sheep and mountain goats, muskox primarily live in the Canadian Arctic, Alaska, andGreenland. Its inuktitut name "umingmak" translates to "The bearded one." The muskox also provides a key resource for our Frontier Tuque — its soft underwool known as qiviut. But we value the muskox for so much more than just its warmest of wools. This arctic mammal embodies the spirit of Canadian exploration — not establishing fixed territory in any one region but opting instead to roam. This badge aims to capture that spirit in hopes that all those who where it embrace that innate urge to constantly explore.
